A Haunting Presence
The Cecil Hotel's eerie legacy stems from a string of tragic events that have occurred within its walls. In 1947, Elizabeth Short, known as the "Black Dahlia," was found murdered and dismembered in a vacant lot near the hotel. In the 1980s, serial killer Richard Ramirez used the hotel as a base for his crimes, dubbing it the "Night Stalker Hotel." And in 2013, Elisa Lam, a young Canadian tourist, vanished from the hotel under mysterious circumstances.
